The journey begins with a blog post

Our publisher, Russell, had an amazing road trip round Zimbabwe in 2024. But, he couldn’t find a printed road map. Sure, he had GPS and SatNav, but there are times you want a good old fashioned printed map. Not just for when your electronic devices fail, or for when data is running low, there are times you want to take a leisurely look at the road ahead without connecting to your devices.

Once was a time when petrol stations, garages and car hire companies gave touring maps to their customers. But when Russell started his journey in 2024, he was handed a 1997 road map, that lacked detail.

Russell thought of publishing an updated road map. And he hit upon the idea of giving locals the opportunity to participate. They could get their message out to the readers of the map – local road users, tourists and overseas arrivals, and in return they would help meet the costs of the project, by advertising.

Russell discussed this idea with Zimbabwean media marketeers Front Page Media, at a lunch in Harare in August 2024. They agreed to test the market to find out if local businesses could support this idea. For info about advertising click here.

No need to wait for your map! While we are developing this project, we will also offer our Road Maps for sale in PDF format, so travelers can download and print at home. Click here for our latest downloadable map.

Zimbabwe will be the starting point for what we hope will become a regional journey. Join us, make contact now!
